What makes you laugh?
What makes you laugh?

Some things are just funny. We know that.

Hi friends,
It’s probably fortunate that there are so many ways to make people laugh: slapstick and sarcasm, mimicry and absurdity. My personal favorite is absurdity.
Here’s someone who makes me laugh, always: Wes Anderson, a Texas-born indie filmmaker who’s a master of funny, I’d say. He’s won piles of awards and nominations for his movies. Are any of you already fans?
These trailers for Asteroid City and Darjeeling Limited are a little taste of what he does:

It says something that Wes Anderson’s films are often quite profitable — not a sure thing for indie filmmakers — and probably he deserves that. His approach to the whole filmmaking process is unique. There’s a very humane, kindly core to his stories and a striking aesthetic to his filmmaking.
But what’s best of all, I think, is the way his movies poke fun at the things about our current “civilization” that make no sense. The false information, poses, clichés, contradictions and stereotypes — and especially the familiar human oddities — become laughable and lovable.
